Jaanchies Restaurant

Loved everything from this restaurant, from the amazing service to the delicious food. It was nice and enjoyable! They come to your table and explain you what’s on the menu, it’s unique and a nice experience.

This place was our most favorite restaurant to come to in Curacao. From the moment you walk in and are welcomed with warmth to the beautiful garden with several birds to make the environment peaceful. The food was very delicious and a great part of trying the local food. They treated us to a delicious dessert on the house. Thank you to the staff for such a memorable and hospitable experience!

What a gem! My husband and I really wanted to try the iguana and they are licensed to sell/cook it. If it’s not for you, they offer beef, goat, chicken, prawns and fish. The platter is 1-2 main items, salad, rice and beans, fries are also included. I could barely make a dent! It was outstanding. The owner, Jaanchie (pronounced Jan-chee) came by and served us personally. It sure if it’s just the time of day, but he’s sitting now with a new table. He’s a lovely and charming man. I found this restaurant on a blog and so glad that I looked it up because we were already on the Westpunt area at Kenpa Grandi. About 5-10 min away. If you go by it on a private tour or in a car, likely you’ll miss it. But don’t miss it!!! It’s open air, birds flock to the feeders and sing. The place is historic in how long it’s been here. If you have an adventurous palette or even if you don’t, try the iguana!!! It’s amazing. The beef (goat in our case), iguana, mahi and grouper were all divine!!! I’ve added a couple of the birds as well. My husband dove in to his platter before I could get his photo.

Our favourite meal of the trip! The food was hands down the best we had on the island, and we tried a lot of the popular spots. It felt local and authentic, not tourist-y. Lovely birds flying around the trees outside. The iguana was fun to try, we still liked the chicken and the fish the best. Other reviews mention island time, that’s just normal on the island and I had no complaints. Delicious food!!

Very unique experience at Jaanchie. I had a sample plate of signature dishes, i.e., beef and goat stew. I was also provided with a sample dish of iguana from the owner and its truly a delicacy dish. A flavor-cross between chicken and alligator. My server Tylesha was very nice as well.

love the chicken with sauce and one filet of breaded red snapper. Comes with fresh salad is also good. Porkchop was tough. ? the healthy combi with Moro (bean rice). Hope they have pikante sambal to match with. Portion is normal. The windows are open. Live ASMR and mindfulness with colourful birds. The Suikerdieves would eat the sugar on the plate. What an experience. Ladies was defect, overal bit messy. Very important: went thrice according to Google opening hours and confirmed with the lady cashier, yet it was closed without notice. Hence, one star less for wasting our fuel and time. For you who experience the same as us, head few minutes down to Restaurant Playa Forti (next to Blue View). Delicious with sea view!

I cannot say enough good things about Jaanchie’s! It can be a bit intimidating traveling abroad and dining sometimes but the extremely warm and humorous welcome we received here blew us away! The space is full of charm and love, the food was DELICIOUS. It is local, hearty, and they have every drink you could ever want. We left feeling so so happy and full. We even got recommendations for the best local spots and some special treats. Jaanchie’s is an absolute must. You would be crazy to skip it.

Check this place out! We were in Curacao and had read about Jaanchie - so decided to check it out. The other reviews are spot on. Great local food, freshly prepared, and chill vibe. Now to the best part - the service. There are no menus, rather they tell you what’s on the menu - and believe me you will be impressed. We had the mahi mahi and shrimp dishes. The sides of plantains, beans and rice, and French fries (you’re on vacation!) were just as delicious as the mains. Also, get the oregano punch. Unique and you will love it! Thanks for a great visit!

Never been to a place like this before. The gentleman who walked us through the menu was a treat. The food was delicious! We shared food between the three of us and has some wonderful fries, rice, salad, fish, shrimp, goat, and iguana. Be warned: Iguana does have a lot of bones so get ready to get your fingers dirty! And there's a cherry at the top at the end of the meal if you eat it all~! Oh and the birds are welcome company

The whole experience was amazing from the moment we arrived to when we left! The whole restaurant has an open layout, so it’s breezy, surrounded by antiques and plants, and hundreds of little finches flying in and out! We decided to try the homemade lemonade and it was NOT disappointing! We took the adventurous route and decided to try the stewed iguana, goat, fish, and chicken. I’ve never had iguana nor goat and they both melted in your mouth! They were possibly the best dishes I’ve had so far! After we were all finished with our meals and stuffed beyond belief, they brought out ice cream! The owner is so stinking sweet; he likes to converse with each group and make sure everything is up to par. He sat down next to me and serenaded me and he definitely stole my heart lol! Before we left he gave us a hug and gifted us ladies a change purse that said “Jaanchies” ❤️ my fiancé and I would love to come back and stay in Curacao for a few days rather than leave same day (we were on a cruise) just so we can eat here every day. WE ❤️ JAANCHIES! 10000/10!
